Andrea B. Farina
Andrea Farina is an emerging multidisciplinary artist living and working in Connecticut. She grew up in Connecticut with an artistically inclined Mother and Scientist Father. As an avid tinkerer, Andrea’s interests ranged from technology to the arts.
As a young girl, she discovered a passion for music and dedicated herself to studying flute, musical theory and composition. In high school, Andrea’s family relocated to New Jersey where she began to shift from music to activism and visual art. Through political zines and typography she fell in love with art as a tool to express and share ideas. Andrea entered Syracuse University intending to study Musical Anthropology but soon switched to the Communications Design program. There she honed her design skills while exploring illustration, fibers, and printmaking. In 2008, Andrea graduated with BFA and ended up back in her home state.
By day she works as a Creative Director and spends nights and weekends pursuing her creative passions at Firing Circuits Studios in Norwalk, CT. Andrea is most known for her intricate embroideries and gouache paintings but she continues to experiment with a wide variety of mediums. Much of her work explores the human body and what defines us beyond our anatomy. She often partners vulnerable figures with intimately detailed patterns to give these intangible entities a physical form.
